The crash took place around 8:50 a.m., Monday, Aug. 5, when a man driving a1995 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon westbound on Sunrise Highway, near N. Queens Ave., when his vehicle experienced a possible mechanical failure and his vehicle struck two other vehicles and one of those struck another vehicle, said the Suffolk County Police.
Four people went to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet refused medical attention.
The crash closed the roadway for about an hour. The roadway has since reopened.
